Brief description of the deal:

Arias & Muñoz’s Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica’s offices advised the multinational Harsco Corporation, one of the world’s leading diversified industrial services companies providing industrial services and engineered products worldwide, in acquiring ESCO, one of Latin America’s premier engineering and equipment services providers to the infrastructure and construction sector and the number one market leader in Central America and the Caribbean, to both improve and catapult Harsco’s presence in Latin-America.

ESCO will become a key part of the Harsco Infrastructure group’s Americas region operations expanding the group’s existing Latin American presence in Mexico, Chile, and Peru with seven additional countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Puerto Rico, while increasing Harsco Infrastructure’s overall global footprint to more than 40 countries.

ESCO is one of the few Costa Rican entities with regional presence that has been acquired by a larger international company.
