Brief description of the deal:

Avianca, the leader Colombian airline and Grupo TACA, airline leader in Central America and Perú, will join operations through the contribution of their shares to a newly formed holding company. The newly formed group represents a consolidation of top airline operations in Latin America which offer world class products, having important hubs in the region. Avianca/Taca flight frequencies complement each other and will be able to offer more flight destinations than any other airline in the region. This may be the largest transaction in 2009.

This transaction will join the operation of two of the most important airlines servicing the Americas, and will bring important benefits to passengers.
